Ok, by now you know that my love for Satin as a fabric is profound and i don’t miss a chance of wearing or treating myself to things made with it. Which is why i am super excited that this fabric is back in fashion.
In this post i am exploring the possibility of wearing a Satin Slip Dress to work. Yes! you heard me right, at work! I mean there is no harm in wearing Satin at work but because satin is technically a sensual fabric it makes it hard to look professional especially as a slip dress.
But worry not, i have found a way to make this work!
Power Dressing in a Slip Dress
When creating this look, i wanted to combine my cotton shirt with the slip dress so we have different textures involved. We have all seen a T-shirt inside the slip dress for a casual look, or the shirt over the slip dress with a knot on the front or open buttons for a holiday look.
But this just makes it look more professional. The satin still makes a statement and choosing the right colour is important. This would work Brilliantly with Navy , Black and even white for that matter. I however went with this beautiful Rusty brown. This dress is a fabulous find from Primark from last year it is made of 95% Polyester. My shirt is from H&M and is 100% cotton.

I wanted my heels and bag to stand out so i used black, but a tan or nude bag with with similar heels would go very well. if you want to make it more formal throw a blazer on top and it would be perfect. I practically live in these Dorothy Perkins court shoes at work they are super comfy and go with literally everything. I have them in Matte Black and glossy Nude, really good if you don’t want to break the bank.
Nude lips and natural makeup goes well with this look which is my go to. Hope you like this little edit. Hope the weather is a bit better to all of us today, see you soon.
