Getting to Siyam World: Seaplane Transfer from Malé
After landing at Velana International Airport in Malé, we were whisked away to the Sea plane terminal. There is also a Sun Siyam Lounge, where you can relax before your seaplane flight. But we were lucky enough to get a flight straight away so didnt go in there. If you land early morning you will probably go there , or even in the afternoon, but we reached the seaplane Terminal around 11:00 am which meant that the sea plane frequency to the resort was great and we didnt have to wait around.
The 45-minute seaplane transfer to Siyam World offers jaw-dropping aerial views of the atolls – try to grab a window seat on the left for the best views!

Seaplane travel tips:
- Weight limit for sea plane flight is 25KG per person including hand luggage. Anything over is charged at $5 per KG (as of April 2025) you pay this all at once and for both outbound and return journeys.
- Pack swimwear, sunscreen, and valuables in your carry-on incase your checked luggage needs to arrive separately due to it being over the weight limit.
- Seaplanes are noisy – bring headphones or use the ear plugs provided. Ensure you keep those ear plugs handy for the return leg.
- Dress light! It’s hot out there. However keep it respectful.
First Impressions: Arrival and Check-In
Landing on water feels surreal. Once you are out of the seaplane you’re greeted with a warm Maldivian welcome – drums, cold towels, and smiles. The check-in process is smooth, and you’re introduced to your villa host, who stays in touch via WhatsApp throughout your stay.
From there, it’s a buggy ride to the reception for check in and then to your room… and what a room it is.

Water Villa with Private Pool and Slide: Room Tour
We stayed in the Water Villa with Pool and Slide, and it’s honestly one of the most fun and modern rooms we’ve ever seen in the Maldives.
You get:
- A huge private deck with sun loungers.
- Your own infinity pool overlooking the ocean.
- A slide that drops you straight into the turquoise lagoon.
- Floor-to-ceiling ocean views from bed.
- Open-air bathroom with a soaking tub.
Perfect for families, couples, or anyone who wants a playful twist on a typical Maldives villa stay.

- Wahoo Grill – for fresh catch of the day and grill options
- Kurry Leaf – incredible Indian cuisine
- Jungali Bar– Poolside food and great nibbles
- The Cube – a private chef’s table experience (extra cost but quite popular as we couldn’t get slots)
Each meal was full of variety, and dietary needs were well catered for. Make sure to book à la carte restaurants early as they fill up fast.
Entertainment & Activities: Fun Beyond the Beach
Siyam World is not just for honeymooners. This island is buzzing with things to do:
- Giant floating water park (Maldives’ biggest!)
- Zumba classes, volleyball, beach games
- Sunset dolphin cruises
- Live DJs, karaoke nights, and cultural shows
- They are also the only resort in the Maldives that has a horse ranch and a mini zoo on the island
There’s always something happening, and yet you can still find quiet pockets of the island if you’re craving peace.
Spa & Wellness: The Veyo Spa
For a more serene side of the island, head to the Veyo Spa. Surrounded by lush greenery, this tropical sanctuary offers:
- Balinese massages and Maldivian healing rituals.
- Couple’s treatment rooms
- Relaxation area with herbal tea
I tried their signature Balinese massage, and it was heavenly. Spa treatments aren’t included in the all-inclusive plan, but they’re well worth the splurge. You do get a $50 voucher for the spa but that covers you for the taxes.
Final Thoughts
Siyam World Maldives is bold, fun, and unforgettable. It’s not your traditional “barefoot luxury” kind of resort it’s more playful, vibrant, and ideal for travellers who want variety and value in one of the most stunning destinations on Earth. Would I recommend? Oh yes!
This resort is perfect if you’re looking for:
- A Maldives resort for families with kids
- A Maldives honeymoon villa with fun extras like a slide
- A lively island with daily entertainment and multiple dining options
- An all-inclusive Maldives experience without compromising on luxury
If you prefer a quiet, boutique island with minimal noise, Siyam World might feel too large and lively. But for most travellers, especially those visiting the Maldives for the first time, it offers the perfect balance of fun, food, and five-star views.
