Hello Hello! Never thought I would say this in 2021 but we just came back from a mini-vacay (mini-holiday for my British readers) and I couldn’t have been any more excited! This is my little post about what to pack for 5 days in Edinburgh in the summer. I love to pack, and if you thought you would never meet an over-enthusiastic person who starts packing a week before their holiday, well you have met her now! (nice to meet you!). I mean no last-minute running around in this household.
I have always loved to pack and organize things so I like to start gathering things as I think of them which means I don’t forget anything on my list. And it’s also a great way for me to disconnect from work and the everyday mundane so I can get into the holiday/vacation mood.
So as I was thinking about what to pack for our Edinburgh trip, I thought I should make it a blog post because when I was looking for outfit inspiration for Edinburgh I couldn’t find a lot to go on.
So maybe this little post will help others with what to pack for your trip to Edinburg for a Scottish summer. First things first, you always have to check the weather, for us, it was so amazing and sunny with cloudy spells but no rain. The temperatures were very much between 16 – 20 degrees which is pretty mild and spring-like for mid-August. But usually, you do get a bit of rain as the locals told us.
What I packed
Shoes
Edinburgh is full of steep climbs, staircases and cobbled stone paths so sensible shoes are a must. I carried my trusty walking shoes and a pair of white trainers as they are comfortable and go well with everything. I mean wearing trainers with dresses and skirts is the best trend ever!
Bags
Usually, I would only carry a backpack but now that my daughter is a bit older we don’t need to worry about nappies and milk bottles, etc (freedom!!!) so I took my black Coach bag which is chic and versatile to go with every outfit I have. I also plan to take my Zara wicker bag for the good old sunny days and a beige cross-body bag for some hands-free days!
Outerwear
It might rain any time as they say in Scotland which is pretty much the same all over the UK but more so up north. So it makes sense to pack an anorak, parka, or a raincoat. I have found a white waterproof hooded jacket from Lilly Lulu Fashion which took with me. I also packed my trusty trench coat for breezy but dry days.
But mostly I ended up wearing the 3 blazers I took with me because the weather was incredible.
Main Outfits
I started writing this post as I was starting to bring things together to pack in my suitcase and I was pretty much leaning towards a lot of neutrals. I can’t believe how much my style has changed over the last 2 years. Most of what I packed was white or cream so I threw in a few colorful dresses in there to keep it versatile.
I had a little collaboration to shoot in Edinburg with Chi Chi Clothing that I planned to fit in somewhere within my travels (more on that later)
Here is what I packed:
Jeans, white Tshirt, and blazer outfit
One basic and comfy outfit that anyone can rock and screams super chic is the white blazer white Tshirt outfit.
Little black dress outfit
Another one of my favorite combinations is this comfy and chic little black dress with puff sleeves and a white blazer on top. With trainers and gold jewelry.
Zara white dress
The white zara maxi dress is such a great addition to anyone wanting that summer greek godess look.
This is how I styled it.
Pleated shorts with peach top and houndstooth blazer
Another outfit I wore was a pleated short and top outfit. The weather was so good that you could easily carry off shorts.
Here is how I styled mine.
Comfy white denim dress
I also wore my Newlook white denim dress one evening when it was slightly breezy
White blazer and Jeans
Another chic outfit I wore was this blazer and jeans combination with my floral crop top (on sale right now) minus the heels.
Selkie Dress
I also took my Selkie dress for fun photoshoots. Find out more on my Instagram, as I will be posting fun reels and posts for the next few days.
Silk skirt with an organza Blouse
I also didn’t forget about my trusty silk skirt with my Nakd fashion organza blouse.
Blue Pleated dress
A cute blue pleated dress for the evening.
It may seem like a lot of clothes for a 5-day trip but some days I was changing twice. (life of a blogger!) I hope this gives you a lot of ideas for your own Scottish summer trip. Keep an eye on this blog for a lot of Edinburgh content that I will be sharing in the next few weeks. Here is a little glimpse of the new reels that were recently posted –
So thanks for tuning in this week. I will be back here with more. Have a great week ahead.
