Hello and welcome back to my blog. I hope you have been enjoying the fabulous weather we have had over the weekend. Last Friday, I took a day off from work to spend some quality time with my little lady. We decided to have a little day out into town and enjoy a bit of shopping and grab some lunch together.
Meet my tiny human who was so excited at the idea of a girl’s day out. Talking of days out, do check out my last post about Venice and the neighboring islands of Burano, Murano, and Lido which is just a little guide to Venice and the other islands. Makes up for a fun read.
So coming back to last Friday, It was the only day of the week that had rain in the forecast, typical right? on the one day you would like to go out. But we just put on our coats and got on with it. We decided we wanted to go into town and look around the high street.
On the riverside at the back of our high street, we spotted some colourful art which we stood and admired in the rain. The little lady wanted to get a picture in front so here we are. We particularly loved the peaceful and smiley bird in pink. This particular art piece is by an artist named Kev Munday who does a lot of cool and colourful art.
New at Zara
The next stop was Zara since I had to return an online order. I hate returning things so it had to be an exchange which is why I ended up picking this gorgeous white dress which has been on my list for ages.
I also very much adored this green dress that really drew my attention but I ended up not getting it in the end as it’s a very similar style to the white one. I will link the dresses below for you if you need them.

Lunch at Nandos
We then had our mother-daughter lunch at Nandos. We initially wanted to go to Wagamama’s for some desperately missed Japanese cuisine but the queue was unbelievable. This goes to show how our hospitality industry has changed in this pandemic. Of course, the trusty Nandos always comes to the rescue, as there was only a 10 min wait for our table for two. There were screens between all the booths and the tables, which made it feel a bit more private than before. You had to order at the table and pay for everything online.
I took my Loewe basket bag for a spin and it proudly sat on the table. I was so glad because it holds all the things you could need as a mum – tissues, sanitizer, a brolly, and a water bottle for the little lady among other things. There is definitely a shortage of the white Loewe basket bags at the moment especially after H&M’s high street version was sold out almost as soon as it came out! You may be able to order it direct from the Loewe website but I am not sure what the waiting times are.
New at HM
After lunch, we went back shopping. This time we looked at H&M the kid’s section was full of great deals and we picked up a few dresses for my girl. We then went to the woman’s section to look at the new Brock Collection.

Riverside walk
We then walked around the lovely riverside canal back to where the car was and said hello to the ducks and swans swimming along. We also bumped into some of our friends which was nice.
The outfit I wore was pretty simple straight jeans and an organza top with some chunky canvas shoes. I will link the outfit below for you.

We concluded our day with a takeaway dinner which meant no cooking for me! Truly a fun day out for us girls. I think 1.5 yrs ago I wouldn’t have thought about cherishing these moments because it’s just shopping and lunch but after the long lockdown and not actually going out at all this is such a luxury and a simple day out shopping has been a refreshing experience. I think it’s been a nice wake-up call to have a little more gratitude every day and that’s something I need to think about more.
Here are 5 things I am grateful for today –
- I am grateful for being able to enjoy simple pleasures with my loved ones.
- I am grateful for being safe.
- I am grateful for my friendships.
- I am grateful for this is blog which has kept my creative energies going.
- Lastly, I am grateful for being able to work from home however stressful it might be at times.
What are you grateful for? Think about it 🙂 It will make you focus on the good things rather than the stresses of everyday life.
So this is the round up of my friday, Hope you all have a lovely week ahead. See you next time.
