If you’re planning a trip to the Maldives and love the idea of music-themed resort, you’ve probably come across Hard Rock Hotel Maldives. Just a quick 15-minute speedboat ride from Malé airport, the resort is part of the CROSSROADS Maldives, a lifestyle hub with restaurants, shopping, and multiple resorts including SAii Lagoon by Hilton.
We recently stayed at Hard Rock Maldives for a couple of nights after a longer stay exploring Siyam World and Sun Siyam Iru Fushi. In this post, I am sharing our honest review, including room tours, resort highlights, food options, and why we felt the service didn’t quite live up to the price.
Getting to Hard Rock Maldives
One of the biggest advantages of Hard Rock is the short transfer time. Once you land at Velana International Airport, simply walk over to the resort counters in the arrival area and find the Hard Rock or CROSSROADS desk. The team will arrange your speedboat transfer to the island.
In our case, we arrived by seaplane from Siyam World, and were smoothly handed off by Sun Siyam staff to the Hard Rock reps at the airport. Within minutes, we were boarding the boat no long wait, no extra stress.
🛏️ Room Types We Explored
We experienced two different room types both set right above that iconic turquoise Maldivian water.
⭐ Platinum Overwater Villa
- Size: ~75 sqm
- Spacious, light-filled interiors
- Private deck with loungers and direct sea access
- Great for couples or small families

👑 Rock Royalty Overwater Pool Villa (2-Bedroom)
- Size: ~144 sqm
- Two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms
- Private infinity pool + sunset views
- Ideal for larger families or groups
- Includes exclusive services and priority amenities
Both villas were beautifully designed bright, colourful, and full of that Hard Rock edge. The lagoon underneath was shallow, safe, and full of sea life our little lady loved it.

What We Loved
- Location: Close to the airport, great for short or late arrivals
- Vibe: Upbeat
- Rooms: Spacious and unique
- Lagoon: Calm, swimmable, and rich with marine life
- Access to CROSSROADS: Easy access to multiple dining options and sister properties

What Fell Short
As much as we loved the setting, there were a few things that didn’t live up to expectations:
- Service inconsistency: Only a couple of reception staff were genuinely helpful; others were inattentive.
- All-inclusive limits: Only includes meals and select drinks. Snacks, minibar, and extras cost more unless you upgrade to premium package. No activities included in All inclusive package like many other resorts.
- Lunch timing: Can’t order lunch before 12:30 PM, which was hard with hungry kids.
- Price vs value: Ultimately we went for full board and around £730 per night (in april), the inclusions and service didn’t justify the rate. Other Maldives resorts offer far better value at this level.
Where Can You Eat?
Dining options include:
At Hard Rock:
- Sessions: Buffet & à la carte main restaurant
- The Elephant and The Butterfly: Latin-American fine dining
- Pool Bar: Light bites & drinks throughout the day
At CROSSROADS Maldives:
- Access to over 10 other dining options, from Thai and seafood to burgers and cafés available with All-Inclusive and Premium plans (set menus apply).
At SAii Lagoon:
You can also dine at the pool bar in SAii Lagoon by Hilton or any other restaurants in the SAii Lagoon Properties. I would highly recommend booking Miss Olive Oyl they have some amazing food.
