Hello hello! We made it to the end of January guys! How is everyone feeling? For me, this month has seemed 100 days long but we got here in the end eh? So today’s post is all about belts! And yes, I have a problem. Besides heels, I am obsessed with belts and I can’t seem to stop myself from buying them. Like ok, every girl has an obsession of some kind right? Most are obsessed with designer bags or Jewellery or Shoes. For me lately, it’s belts. PS: this obsession is strictly for vanity purposes only. So today I bring to you a post on the top 10 designer belts to have.
A belt resides at the crossroad of function and style. For me, a belt is a huge style statement and brings a whole lot more to your outfit.
I always go with the rule, if it doesn’t fit right belt it! – Pooja
While you could just use the belt in a standard way on your trousers or jeans, waist belts have revolutionised the way we dress. There is nothing better than getting the right fit with a belted waist. Oh yes! belted waists are back and you better embrace it with all you have. Looking at the recent fashion week line up all sorts of belts have made an appearance. Belted coats, Belted shakets, belted jackets, belted dresses you name it, we are even belting our scarfs in.
So I thought I would compile a list of all the must-have belts for you fashionistas out there. Remember: designer or not, you can always go for a high street alternative for most of the belt types below. I certainly don’t own all of these but I aim to – more motivation to win that lottery!
So let’s dive into the best belts to have for a stylish wardrobe. I will link an affordable version where appropriate.

1. The classic belt buckle
This classic style belt is just what every girl needs in her wardrobe. If you can, have a tan version of this belt also. It really is your everyday hardy belt, goes with everything and you don’t have to think twice. You don’t necessarily have to go designer on this style you can get an affordable version in every high street store. This one will just last longer if you are willing to invest £40 on it.
2. The GG belt
This timeless belt is a favourite with every influencer on Instagram. Gucci’s timeless GG belt is your stepping stone to luxury. If you have this belt congratulations you have stepped into the luxury retail realm. I certainly don’t shop luxury all the time but I bit the bullet and treated myself to one this year. You get a few different sizes in the belt width in this but I prefer the slimmer styles so they are not screaming LOOK AT ME but instead makes you look at me if you know what I mean.
There is no replacing this one but as it’s a classic but there are more affordable versions with other Brands like Guess with their Alby belt range that’s got a single G on it. I love this one too and have it in beige colour for my neutral outfits. This belt from Guess is not real leather but the quality is impressive.
3. Valentino Garavani – VLOGO reversible leather belt
Valentino’s V Logo debuted in 2014 but has recently been given an update and is one belt to really invest in because when compared to its counterparts in the range this really stand out. The signature red back and the reversible feature makes it 2 belts in one. And not to mention the V logo is much more impressive than the others out there.
Think of it this way this wont be your everyday belt but when you want to make a bold impression this wont let you down. The Belt comes in different widths and can be worn as high waisted or low.
Again there is no replacing this one.
4. A Waist Belt
Waist belts are my favourite way to uplift any outfit. Belt over a dress or a coat it just changes the whole outfit. One of the styles that are really popular at the moment is the tie-up style. Vanzetti does a really nice version of this belt type.
You can totally get a high street version of this belt easily. I have seen some in Topshop, River Island and Primark.
5. A Square buckle
A large square buckle belt is also a style staple and every girl must have one. They look great with the whole Jeans, leather jacket and boot look. Dune London have a fantastic collection of belts and this square buckle makes it to my list as it is so well made.
The best has been sold out on Dune London’s website as it was discounted and going for a tenner! But I have linked the same one available at Zalando.
6. Saint Laurent Kaia leather belt bag
Any one who’s anyone has been wearing a belt bag this year and while a lot of designers do them I simply adore the classic curve leather structure with the gold YSL logo. While all leading designers do a belt bag and the Prada ones are all over the internet. I find YSL style much more refined. Go with this one if you don’t want to blend in the crowd.
7. Loewe Anagram belt
When you think of the Loewe Anagram belt you just know it is going to be simple and special. The belt is reversible and comes in two colours black and tan. I particularly love the Tan one because you get the black on the other side. The gold buckle is a tad bit nondescript than its designer counterparts and it just takes it up a notch. If you are looking for something exquisite and not screaming designer but is designer after all then this is your belt.
Sorry no replacing this one.
8. Alessandra Rich’s Lion charm – Chain belt
Alessandra Rich’s Lion charm embellished gold-tone chain belt is such a great option if you want to bling things up. Imagine this over a nice blazer or a little black dress. The 80’s vibe is so in right now and this belt can be really styled in many ways.
HM have a super affordable version of the chain belt linked below. That you can try if you want something simpler.
9. Alexander Mcqueen Double Belt
Alexander Mcqueen loves to cinch the waist with a belt and this belt version came as gorgeous option in the AW19 collection. Love this style very much for its authentic pleasing to the eye look. just cinch that waist already!
There are lots of similar styles available on the high street that an affordable versions of this belt. Find some at Zara , River Island or H&M.
10. Maje – Double Buckle Western Belt
Taking you Texas way is the double buckle western belt. If you want to show your cowgirl side this belt is for you. Double the buckle, double the intimidation, you know what to do.
Maje makes the cut with this belt because they have aced the cowboy vibe with their Arizona belt. Pair them with short shorts or wide legged denim or a dress but I tend to think this belt wears you , not the other way round and truly you deserve it.
A Great affordable version from Pretty little thing is really good to go as well.
